NAME

A. The name of this chapter is:

Pittsburgh North Hills Chapter #595 of American Association of Retired Persons, Inc.

B. The official address of the chapter shall be:

 Hampton Presbyterian Church, 2942 East Hardies Road, Gibsonia, PA 15044

 or the address of the current president.

MEMBERS & DUES

A. The maximum size of the Chapter will be 400 members, as determined by the capacity of the meeting space used by the chapter. Voting quorum will be 20%.

B. Annual dues effective January 1, 2024 are $10 per member. Dues will be subject to change by the Board of Directors.

C. Members not paying dues by March 31are considered delinquent and having resigned. The member’s newsletter will be discontinued.

D. Persons joining the chapter in the last quarter of the year shall be entitled to membership for the remainder of the current year and 12 months of the following year.

E. This chapter will accept members who are also members of any other AARP chapter.

 MEETINGS

A. The chapter will meet at 12:30 P.M. the first Tuesdays of the month at Hampton Presbyterian Church.

B. The Board of Directors and Committee Chairpersons will meet at 11:00 A.M the first Tuesdays of the month at Hampton Presbyterian Church.

C. Non-members may attend chapter meetings as guests before joining.

D. The annual meeting of the Board of Directors will be held in July at the chapter’s regular meeting place and regular meeting time.

OFFICERS

A. This chapter will have the following officers:

President

Vice President

Treasurer

Secretary

Additional officers such as First Vice President, Assistant Treasurer, etc. do not automatically serve on the board of directors unless they are elected to the Board by the chapter membership. Officers will be elected each year. They may serve a three-year term but no more than two consecutive terms, a maximum of six consecutive years.

COMMITTEES

A. This chapter will have standing and additional committees. The chairpersons are to be appointed by the President. Current standing committees are:

Auditor, Community Service, Events/Hospitality, Membership, Newsletter, Nominating, Programs/Entertainment, Publicity, Sunshine, Travel

FINANCES

A. The titles of officers authorized to sign checks for this chapter are:

Treasurer, President, Vice President

B. Expenses included in the chapter budget in the amount of $500 may be approved by the Board of Directors. Expenses not included in the chapter budget, or more than $500, require the approval of the chapter membership.

C. The Board of Directors will prepare and submit an annual budget to the membership at the January chapter meeting each year.

D. This chapter will reimburse members for travel to official AARP functions, or when representing the chapter at official community functions, only when travel has been approved in advance by the board of directors.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

A. The Board of Directors will consist of at least four but no more than 12 members. The President will, as a function of that office, serve as the chairperson of the Board. At least four Board members will be elected each year. They may serve a three-year term but no more than two consecutive terms, a maximum of six consecutive years.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE

A. The Nominating Committee should consist of three members. Committee members will be elected by the membership or appointed by the incoming board at the annual meeting. Committee members may serve three-year terms but no more than two consecutive terms unless approved by the Board.

B. The chairperson of the Nominating Committee will be elected by the membership or appointed by the incoming board or the committee members at the annual chapter elections.

STANDING RULES

A. These Standing Rules will be reviewed annually by the board of directors at its first meeting following elections. The Standing Rules may be revised by a simple majority vote of the chapter members voting with a quorum present, and updated at the annual chapter meeting.
